2008 WHALE-WATCHING EXPERIENCE
We are promoting a Tour this "Winter", to the Head of the (Great Australian) Bight, where it is reported that this year there are more than a hundred whales, enjoying respite from the frozen Antarctic Ocean.
For the coldest times of the year, pods migrate to warmer climes where they calve after a year's gestation, and nurture their young and prepare them for the long journey South as the weather improves. The pods include all the different members of their society, mothers, their calves and the adult males, all interacting and taking advantage of the refuge offered along our continental Southern Coastline.
So we here in South Australia are afforded the great opportunity to be able to witness this phase of their annual pilgrimage to our Coastline. It does require some travel from Adelaide to actually arrive in the vicinity. The total distance of about One Thousand and Ninety km. would be broken down into two stages; (a) Adelaide to Ceduna, and (b) Ceduna to Nullarbor, via. the Head of the Bight, on the outward journey.
On the return journey the stages would be (a) Nullarbor to Wudinna, and (b) Wudinna to Adelaide. The plan would be to take advantage of the opportunity presenting, and take a detour in the Wirrulla area to see s variety of spectacular mountain and rock formations that occur in the region.
The next excursion is planned for the four days, Tuesday, September 23rd. to Friday, September 26th. 2008.
We encourage patrons to travel in pairs, or larger groups to receive maximum economy for their dollar. This is because "Double" or "Twin-share" accommodation charges avoid that "Single Supplement" Charge, which varies in amount from one venue to another, but which would necessarily be added for the situation where patrons demanded a single room to themselves.
We will include the four day's travel, three evening meals, three nights accommodation, three breakfasts and a cut lunch for the second, third and fourth days all included in the Cost of the Trip. The Fare for this unforgettable trip is only Five Hundred and Twenty Dollars per person. Echidna Tours requires a deposit of $100 to confirm your booking and secure your seat.
